Tackling the Challenge of the Faldo Amendoeira Golf Course

You cannot miss the opportunity to come here

Portugal is famous throughout the world for the quality of golf it offers to the players. There are several golf courses in the country but there is no other match to Faldo Amendoeira Golf Course. Designed by Sir Nick Faldo, this golf course was opened in 2008. It is a remarkable place for golfers and demands very careful positioning of the ball from the players to score well.

Special Features

The land of Amendoeira has a special feature of being dramatic, which makes it a real talking point of Algarve. You can enjoy incredible views during your play on the undulating natural terrains. As the designer Nick has already said that you have to catch the signs given by the golf hole on how to play the tee shot. You will be rewarded if you get the signs correctly and follow them. But, you will be penalized if you don’t do the same. The nine holes on the back of the course are quite hilly, but they do offer some fantastic views at the course. Nick has designed it for the golfers who like to take challenges. Even if they realize that there are some easy holes too, they have to play them craftily. Some of the essential characters of the golf course are rocky outcrops, orange groves, meandering watercourses and distant mountain views. Many features of desert style have been incorporated in this course. When you play here, you will get entirely engaged in the beauty of this course.

Parts of the golf course

The course consists of two parts:

  • The Oceanico O'Connor Course: It is a memorable course with a river on the right.
  • The Oceanico Faldo Course: This course gives a feeling of Arizona with the desert features incorporated in it.

Layout of the course

When you are about to take the opening shot, you will face an elevated tee at the first hole itself. You will deal with many risks and rewards at this hole. Then the downhill holes begin and you can take a spectacular shot at the 5th hole, which is positioned on the largest lake of the course. The last nine holes take you to the plains from the high terrains. The 11th hole is the shortest hole of the course and the 13th hole presents the highest point. The 18th hole is par 5 and demands the golfer to hit a superb strike.

How to reach?

Amendoeira Golf Course can be easily reached from Faro airport. It is just half an hour drive away from the airport. It is absolutely a “must-come-visit” once in a lifetime for all die-hard golfers.
