MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace has announced some tragic family news.
The TV chef, 59, took to Instagram on Tuesday night, revealing that his father-in-law had sadly died, aged 66.
Alongside a picture of his parents-in-law raising a glass of wine, Gregg wrote: ‘Farewell Massimo Sterpini 1957 – 2023 my much loved father in law.’
Fans rushed to the comments to share their condolences, with one writing: ‘My thoughts are with your wife and mother in law and you and all the family and friends at a very sad and heartbreaking time May he rest in paradise and shine bright in your hearts always.’
MasterChef 2019 winner added: ‘Very sorry to hear about your and Anna’s loss Gregg. He was too young!’
Gregg has previously spoken about his close bond with his wife Anne-Marie’s parents, who lived with them and their son Sid.
‘I love Rena — we have such a giggle. We are roughly the same age,’ he said, of his mother-in-law.
He went on to The Sun: ‘Me and Rena remember the same TV shows and sing the same 1970s pop songs.
‘Anna doesn’t know what we are talking about. We were singing Boney M at breakfast this morning and Anna has no idea.’
Gregg wed his wife Anne-Marie, 21 years his junior, in 2016 with the pair welcoming their son in 2019.
Sid was named after both his grandfathers, sharing his middle name with Anne-Marie’s Italian father Massimo.
Anne-Marie is Gregg’s fourth wife, after he married his first wife Christine in 1991 and later described their marriage as the ‘shortest marriage in the world’ as they went their separate ways after just six weeks.
Gregg then went on to marry former wife Denise – who is mum to his kids Tom and Libby – in 1999 after six years of dating.
The MasterChef star then wed third wife, biology teacher Heidi Brown in 2010, after meeting her on Twitter. They married at Coworth Park in Berkshire, but split just 15-months later.
